Continue learning about the differences between our Fiber & Wireless services below.

The main differences between our Fiber and Wireless services are: technology, capabilities, and availability. These unique characteristics do not mean that one service is better than another, but rather one or the other may be a preferred option in specific situations. Let’s break down those differences further.

Capabilities: Fiber optics use light to transfer data instead of radio waves, this allows for more bandwidth over wireless but both technologies are similar and will perform for the user's needs.

Requirements: Our services have specific requirements depending on the home and general requirements that are needed no matter the home. It is impossible to give specific requirements per home here, but we can give you the general requirements. Wireless internet will require a line-of-sight to our towers, while fiber will require the ability to tether a fiber optic cable from your home to a utility pole.

Availability: We are providing Wireless Broadband Internet to over six counties (Lorain, Huron, Ashland, Medina, Richland & Erie) with fifty-six different towers. Currently, we are providing Fiber Optic Internet to Wellington, Ohio. We are in the process of building up our fiber optic network and will be able to start offering our services to some surrounding areas.

Technology: Fiber Optic Internet uses glass or plastic tubes to transfer data via pulses of light. This means that there must be a tethered connection from the broadband internet source to your home. Wireless Internet uses antennas that are attached to your home, or near your home, that receive radio waves from a fixed wireless hub attached to a tower. These two points are using radio waves to transmit and foster an internet connection.
